Q: What is the consistancy? Paste, gel, liquid,etc?

More of a thick liquid. I needed it for tractor tires and it was too much of a liquid but for auto tires it would be fine.

Q: My shop is not heated consistently during the winter, will this tire lube freeze in the bottle?

Read through product manual - avail on manufacturer's site - and - they only mention about upper heat limit of 120 degrees - no mention of freezing or lower range temps

Q: Is this better than using dawn, or is it about the same?

HI, If Dawn works well for you then great! This product is meant to lubricates tires and rims for ease in mounting. It dries quickly and makes an excellent leak detector when diluted.
