BE58U is a solid router and great as a mesh component
This BE58U router is my second ASUS router. My first, an AC66U has been repurposed as a mesh node on my new Asus mesh network. The BE58U is probably overkill for my needs - about 20 connected devices over 3 floors and 3200 SF home. No gaming but 2k Netflix and other streaming. I have no devices that currently use wifi 7 and since the AC66U node is only wifi 5 there's no dedicated backhaul channel.First, the BE58U by itself seems to have slightly less range across both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands than the old AC66U router. If I was using this by itself, I'd be disappointed and probably return it. As a mesh router using the AC66U as a node, it's a whole different story. Coverage and speed across both bands is vastly improved and at least part of my home is future-proofed for wifi 7. Much better set-up than my old TP extender set-up.In a perfect world, I'd have a wifi 7 tri-band router and mesh node but cost is an issue. For now, a dual-band wifi 7 coupled with an older wifi 5 node gets the job done nicely with room for future upgrades (maybe a cheap Asus wifi 6 router on E-bay?)BTW, setup was easy, no random network drops or resets, unit runs relatively cool, no network incompatibilities or glitches. I've had none of the issues mentioned in any of the negative reviews - at least not yet and never had issues with my AC66U. The Asus software and phone app are easy to us and provide a lot of useful information. The network security tools are also very good. I consider this a solid value and the mesh network a real upgrade in house-wide coverage.

It just works, with quality security
It’s a nice Router. It works well than a 2200 square-foot home. We like the fact that it allows for reset on its own, which keeps any data cleared out of its memory. We like the design we like the speed and the quality. The wireless Connectivity is good and we’ve had no problems. We had a TP link before and we had quite a bit of buffering. We don’t find that so much with this Router. I did some reviews on the Security and found that this particular brand does not have any or I should say didn’t have any at the time I did a security review. I believe with any Router placement is key for all the items in the home to connect appropriately.

Fast router
Old router was dropping/resetting Wi-Fi so I spent a lot of time looking for a new router. I don't need wifi7 or to spend $1000 on a new one. The old one had a really slow web interface and was a pain to do anything. This one has recent hardware, a good price (especially on sale), and is significantly faster and has more options. Most new routers require an app to set up and that was a no go for me. Completely unnecessary to install an app and create some internet accounts just to set some settings/IPs locally. So this one was easy to get into the web interface by Ethernet or wireless to set everything up. I'm shocked at how responsive the interface is. I've had very steady and strong wifi coverage. I have a couple devices plugged in via Ethernet and have had no issues. Easy to pull firmware updates. I've done some MAC filtering and DHCP reservations, and while not quite as intuitive as I've seen in the past it was also fairly simple. It doesn't matter to me but this is slightly smaller than my last router, but design wise it still has the standard external antennas that is not as decorative as some of the new ones, but again that wasn't important to me.

Much better than my old router!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I just replaced all of my Netgear Home/Office LAN hardware and decided to give the Asus a chance.Ease of setup - Perfect. The auto-configuration worked as expected, but you can also set up the network manually if you choose. One area for improvement here is assigning an SSID to your wireless channels. For some reason, the setup names your 2.4 and 5.0 channels the same name, even if you are trying to assign them manually during setup. This means that you must correct that if you want a unique broadcast SSID for each band.GUI - Once familiarized with the web GUI, the interface is excellent. For the most part, options are presented in a common-sense, easy-to-understand fashion. All "pro" tools are easily accessible, including WAN, LAN, Wireless, Guest Network, QOS, etc. The best part about the web GUI is the ease of making changes to the options. Never once locked up, failed to respond, or save and remember setting changes.2.4 Band - excellent signal strength throughout a 2,100 sq. ft. two-story home.5.0 Band - nothing stellar, but not terrible either. All devices operating on the 5.0 band were able to connect and hold a signal. This included TVs, laptops, tablets, and cell phones in use throughout the entire residence.Appearance - I didn't buy this router for its gaming aesthetics, but for its potential performance and the ability to support 12-18 devices connected simultaneously. It handles that workload well. As long as I can game on my wired PC while the wife or grandkids stream movies, videos, and YouTube, everyone is happy. In that regard, no complaints yet.

Fast and reliable
It just works. I recommend it.It's fairly easy to set up as routers go, with a web interface and internal help documents. The terminology is pretty standard, so someone who is reasonably experienced and computer-literate could set it up from directions. It seems secure, and I can control it completely. It's fast, and I don't think I have ever had to restart it. Just now, in the middle of a work day, I measured up to 621 Mbps UPload, and 685 Mbps download with Ookla. I haven't checked recently, I think the speed of our service is around 600.Mine has a USB port for output to a USB device. I haven't tried it. The next model down lacks this output,
