Second that!
The reader from Hampton has said you can't put the book down. I couldn't either. When I finished reading the first edition of the book, and this, the second, I felt really enspirited, and respectful of the resilience of the human spirit. Mrs. McCartney was raised by a father who abused her physically and mentally, and told her that she was worth nothing. She has been proving him wrong ever since, with style, and humor, and terrific energy. Whenever life has handed Heather bad breaks, she has rallied with courage and increasing confidence and savvy. She takes chances, she goes for the gold, and she sometimes fails. But she gets up, analyzes her performance, and tries again. Heather reports plenty of failures in this book, and one real mistake. But she's found her calling (helping amputees, and preventing them from happening in the first place), and she has found a man who thinks she's worth a lot of time and attention, and is happy to say so. This book will show you what Paul loves about Heather Mills McCartney. If you read newspapers in the UK or America, you owe it to yourself to listen to the woman herself.

▲ Interesting!
I've never been a fan of Heather Mills or an animal rights activist but certainly didn't like the way the British press slagged her off for wanting to divorce Macca.(Don't believe the hype!) About her relationship with Sir Paul: There are always 2 sides to every story...and the truth ISN'T somewhere in the middle -I suspect it's closer to the Heather Camp! A decent woman - an interesting read.

A graphic account
“A Single Step” is a graphic account of the life so far of Heather Mills McCartney and includes 30 personal photographs. By no means a quiet life the author certainly fills the 327 pages with a startling account of an abusive father, an absent mother, life on the streets, and lots more. And all that before the horrific accident in 1993 that altered her life for good when her left leg was amputated after a collision with a police motorcycle. Since then she has been involved in medical relief work and is an advocate of Adopt-A-Minefield.The 35 year old’s life-story flows fluently and has the reader interested from the very beginning. Heather writes candidly about her life up to the point where she met and married Sir Paul McCartney and faced the media storm that came with it. She writes “…out of everything I’d been through – my mother leaving us; the abuse from my father; being homeless; even losing my leg – I’d say one of the most horrible ordeals I’d ever been through was the media harassment that year.”Heather’s attitude throughout all the trials and tribulations has been to remain strong and not become a victim which should be an inspiration to us all. However, one can’t help wondering if the extra pages added to her original life story “Out On A Limb” published in 1995, are merely a swipe at the media; the same media that she had courted for many years before meeting Sir Paul McCartney.

Condition of the book.
The book i received in the mail was carefully and lovingly wrapped in bubble wrap too protect it from damage. The book is in excellent condition (for an out of print book) it has no high lights or folded pages- i will score it 10/10. It's a keeper.

Too Vague
Given the current media interest in the breakup of her marriage to Paul McCartney, I picked this up to learn more about the woman the tabloids all call a golddigger. As an autobiography, it's not the best I've ever read. So many incidents are vague in terms of time frame, and especially names of people involved that it gives credence to those accusations that Ms. Mills has embellished her life story. There are two separate stories of her being threatened by people (a lesbian roommate, a french magazine employee) in such a similar and bizarre way that I was left wondering what really happened. The latter incident is used to explain her sudden flight from France and back to her on-again off-again boyfriend Alfie Karmal. Apparently, a former prostitute to rich Arabs is claiming that Ms. Mills was enjoying the same lifestyle during this period when her book says she had a high-paying contract with a French cosmetics company. She never mentions the company's name. I found it a strange thing to leave out. It's not my intention to point another finger at Ms. Mills and scream "liar". I'm judging the book solely on its merits and as it's an autobiography she's entitled to write whatever she likes. It's just not very effective.I would have enjoyed learning more about her charity work between the time of her accident and meeting Paul McCartney. It seems like this is the period when she re-invented herself, and I mean that in a totally positive way. She could very easily have hit the bottle after her accident, but she found a purpose her prior years of life had been missing.Overall, I give the book 2.5 stars. It's an easy read, but the omission of basic facts is distracting.

A very inspirational book
This book helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. I would certainly tell anyone who has had such a traumatic accident like what happened to Heather Mills and many others ...READ THIS BOOK !I would not have had the motivation that I did had I not thought of her, and found this book. All the days as I was recovering , with so much depression . I got stronger reading her story.
