Greater than the other one
I have this and the other similar brand that has the U-shaded insert both bought from Amazon. I have used the other one for a few years and didn't' like how the U tends to come out if you don't keep the hitch at a straight angle to the ground. Annoying to say the least, but manageable. This, on the other hand, work perfectly, is of higher quality material and workmanship, and the bolt you tighten seems well machined enough and true enough that you don't have to worry about it stripping (unlike the other brand I'm referring to).The other brand's bolt stripped a bit so I had to resort to using the Yakima wrench that came with my bike rack (thank goodness that's more durable). This is a great unit and the extra money spent on this Curt unit will be more worth it than the other similar model. I promise.

Do NOT use without the lockwasher!
I have four of these, and have used each on numerous hitch configurations, from bike racks to small trailers, to a pop up camping trailer. Not once have I ever has an issue with any to the devices. Well, not completely true, I lost the locking end on one of the pins, but that was due to my not checking to see that the locking barrel was indeed locked. I have read the reviews describing how the pin had seized on the nut, and had to be cut off. A problem that I have not experienced, nor suspected would occur with any of the four I own. A friend bought one and he towed a trailer to my house and was complaining that, once installed, the hitch was still loose. He said he tightened it as much as he could. I examined his installation and noticed that the lock washer had not been installed prior to threading the pin. The pin was "bottomed out" on the threads and would not tighten further. In this case, if he had attempted to tighten the pin any further, I could see how the threads could be damaged, causing the pin to lock up, or seize in the bolt. The lock washer not only prevents the pin from loosening, but also acts as a shim take up the slack between the receiver and hitch. So, a great little device, but never install it without the lock washer!

No more rattle, nice finished.
The rattle has gone and some how it makes me feel safer pulling my camper without hearing any rattle. It took me about 2 minutes to install and mount it. I took it off of my car when not in use to protect it from the element. I also emailed the manufacture asking them whether the pin would support my 3500 pound camper since the original J pin that came with my hitch is thicker in diameter and Curt replied "All of our hitch pins are able to support the max weight of any of our ball mounts they are compatible with"

Worked, until it didn't...
Bought this to go with the Rola hitch Cargo Rack, as every review I'd read for the rack says that it is very sloppy in the receiver. Installed the rack and this Anti-rattle hitch pin for a test fit. When I started to loosen the bolt from the threaded insert, it became cross threaded, so I tightened a little to try and correct it, then started to loosen again,,, same problem. Had to get a breaker bar out, physically break the head of the pin off, leaving the threaded insert with the bolt still holding tension inside the hitch, and the other side of the bolt sticking out through the other side of the hitch to where I wasn't able to remove the rack from my hitch on the truck. So, after compressing the spring loaded insert w/pin in it to force as much pin out the side of the hitch as possible, had to cut the pin with a cutting wheel while keeping pressure on the spring. Once the pin was cut down enough to allow the spring loaded insert to relax inside the hitch, I was then able to remove the rack, threaded insert, and remainder of pin from my truck. What a chore, that was, in this vegas heat!!For the 5 minutes I actually had it on the truck to look at it, I was impressed. No rocking, twisting, or rattling. It was easy to install, but the removal, well,,, yeah. The pictures should tell it all...Returning this thing in pieces, and buying the Hitch Tightener from Hitch Tech, along with an ordinary 5/8" hitch pin. Buy at your own risk.

The threaded nut material is too soft.
The threaded nut material is too soft. Before usingthis product I read reviews about how easily you can strip the threads. I’m very mechanically inclined so I figured that will not be an issue for me as I will be extra cautious. After 2 uses I started noticing an issue with the threads. I had to remove some metal shavings from the nut and file down few chipped threads to get it working again. Metal shavings were not there during the first use.

Works great and secures your hitch...
I love this product. I've bought a few over the years. This does a great job of keeping the hitch from rattling and inherently prevents people from messing with it since it's screwed it. Yeah, the locks works too. The only drawback is that over time nicks becomes rust and eventually it's an eyesore. For me, I just don't like it, so I've replaced them when they get worn. I would recommend.

Five Stars
High quality, non-rattle, hitch pin with lock. Straighted up the hitch load, and locks it for security.

Tough to use
This locking hitch is very difficult to secure on the trailer hitch; the tolerances are very tight and getting the locking mechanism to engage is a challenge.Best method I've found is to put the locking mechanism in place while tightening down the male end...hold the locking mechanism in place with one hand while continuing to tighten the male end until everything is in place. Once in place, the bike rack won't budge. Check to ensure the lock is set.
