I didn’t have much space in my countertop and this outlet was the solution. Doesn’t use much space and works great.

We had a Murphy bed and side cabinets installed in our home. When the cabinets were built, there were outlets "orphaned" behind them. We bought 2 of these grommeted outlets to get power up to the cabinet surface for our guests to use. We really like that the outlets have a cover for times when they're not in use. We also purchased a USB-powered alarm clock for the guest room, and this was successfully powered by the ports in the power grommet.The cover for the power grommet may be slid out of the way or removed completely when plugging things in. We're very pleased with this purchase.

The only thing I don’t like about these is, the door that twists on and off, doesn’t allow the plug of most things to fully sit in the socket. So it feels like there could be a short or something weird if it’s not seated all the way down. The only alternative is to remove the door from the top.

Fits wonderfully where the large hole used to be in our entertainment center. We spent thousands to update the woodworking and didn't want to spend endless just to close off the power options. This isn't the most extreme when it comes to a quality standpoint (kind of cheezy plastic and the swing-top cover doesn't allow the plug of USB ports to be completely open so just know that if you have large plugs) but this fixed the mess and also allowed us avoid any more holes in the expensive wood we just updated. Thank goodness this exists!

I thought the price was a bit high but compared to the rest, this was a good buy. Charges both my work and personal phones while I’m at my desk. I did use a 2in bit based off its size and other reviews suggestions. I think the hole is too big. I’d start with 1 1/2 and move up in size if needed, but the plate covers the opening so it’s not a huge deal. Aside from creating the hole because I built my desk, the install took a whopping 30 seconds.

Found this item when looking for a cord pass through grommet for a quartz top counter I installed in my wife's dressing room. What a clever product. No more reaching/crawling beneath the counter top to plug in the curling iron, hair dryer, cell phone. The USB receptacles are a great added feature. Glad I found this Power Grommet.

These power sockets work exactly as described so I honestly feel guilty about the rating. But, be ware - single outlet. And it will be about a minute before you realize you need multiple outlets! Cannot plug an expander into it because of the cover - and why would I want that on my desk anyway? They sell a double outlet which would have been smarter but I already had 2" holes and the double needs a 3" hole. Still, I've gone back to the regular grommet so I can hide most of the cord UNDER the desktop and have access to 2 outlets. Oh, and if you haven't researched the wisdom of purchasing USB outlets, please do so before buying. First, they won't charge everything (definitely not my Thinkpad) and the Type A & B connectors are becoming extinct in favor of newer technology (Type C) anyway.
