DO NOT BUY!!! My first one broke very quickly. Second now broken!
UPDATEOn my second one of these items and it has just stopped working again. This item does not move from the plug socket in my office so when they keep on stop working them you know its an inferior product! I am not happy as yet again I am stuck here without a charger for my business phone, so not only will i have to pay for another charge but with living in the countryside and no apple shops being at hand I will not have business phone working and probably miss out on business calls over the weekend until I can get a new one on next day delivery! Not happy at all. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. With all the hassles I have had with this item I may as well have just paid the over inflated apple price for their branded one and got a product that actually works like it should!This broke after 1 month of light use, it just stopped working without warning which was very annoying as I was left unable to charge my phone. I was issued a refund and I have purchased another to give it another go, if it breaks again I will certainly not be buying another and will just go and get an apple original. Its a shame that it broke so quickly after such little use as the reviews looked to be good on it, the cable is thicker and with it being long too its really handy. Amazon did issue me with a refund very quickly and easily though which is why i giving this item another go, maybe I was just unlucky and got a faulty one.

This looks better quality than the average cables sold online and I manage to recharge my iPad 3 with it. I bought other cheaper cables online and they would charge my iPhone, but for some reason my iPad didn't recognise them. I only bought this because Apple certified it. The cable is thicker than the average and this may be the reason why it works well with my iPad and iphone. I don't know about durability, the only reason why I don't give 5 but 4 stars at the moment. thanks Mark

I bought this to replace the flimsy and frankly too-short lead originally supplied with the iPad, which finally developed a loose connection and ceased to work.Length: 2 metres - it's much more versatile than the pathetically-short original lead.Construction: Everything seems solidly put together. The cable is heavier duty than the standard lead.Fit: It clicks home with a more positive and reassuring click than the original lead. I doubt it's going to pop out if you accidentally yank on it.Price: Very well priced for the quality, even with the delivery charge.Verdict: The iPad is sold as a premium product and this is the lead that Apple should provide with it.

PROVISIONAL REVIEW: I'll update this as and when -- if I remember, that is.I bought two of these leads a couple of weeks or so ago. They appear to be working very well. I thought the quality was rather impressive. The lead is sturdier and thicker than Apple's and it doesn't have that annoying habit of generally getting tangled easily. Moreover, it's less 'sticky' and smoother to the touch. I'm careful but Apple leads just fall apart eventually, especially at the joints. The joints on these leads on the other hand seem to be properly engineered, which is a pleasant change for once.Over time I have bought many replacements too from other suppliers and these have proven equally as unreliable as Apple's at best, and usually worse.So now I'm giving these a bash. Fingers crossed. But all indications are good so far. Hence the five stars.One minor quibble: the 30-pin connector which plugs into the iPad does not stay in place as well as the original Apple connector [but see AMENDMENT below]. It's fairly easy to dislodge it. Still, it's better than others I've had in this respect but it could do with a stronger 'spring' to those tiny lugs that are supposed to secure it in position. Engineers please note.Over and out.AMENDMENT 05/06/2015:I have only now noticed that the bumf here states: "... and Uses original connector from Apple." Oh well. In that case perhaps Apple ought to review its manufacturing outsourcing.
